Confinement is not a simple thing

Confinement is not a simple thing
Talk about the "confinement" thing

Confinement is something that all mothers have experienced, but compared to the meticulous care of pregnancy, many people who come here will subtly say confinement, is it very simple? For thousands of years, millions of people have come here. In fact, confinement is by no means a simple thing. It is necessary for mothers and their families to understand postpartum health care knowledge and implement it consciously.

How long after birth? Puerperal period, commonly known as confinement, refers to the recovery period of the maternal system. During pregnancy, the various systems of the pregnant woman's body, especially the reproductive system, will undergo tremendous changes as the pregnancy progresses. After delivery, the shape and function of the organs and systems of the body (except the mammary gland) gradually return to the pre-pregnancy state. Medically, this period of postpartum recovery is defined as the puerperal period, usually defined as 6 weeks after the delivery of the placenta. At the same time, some potential lesions will change dramatically during the puerperal period, which may also be caused by the lifestyle habits of the mother and her family. Therefore, healthy and smooth through the puerperal period, the postpartum life of the mother has a positive impact.

Early puerperal management

Early puerperal period refers to the postpartum hospitalization or within 10 days after delivery. At this time, we should pay close attention to the amount of uterine bleeding, the height of the uterine floor, and the uterine contraction.

Treatment within 2 hours postpartum: Serious complications such as postpartum hemorrhage, eclampsia, and postpartum heart failure are highly likely to occur within 2 hours postpartum. Therefore, the midwife should be closely observed in the delivery room.

Diet: 1 hour after delivery, due to maternal fatigue, digestive ability is weakened, can eat porridge, soup and other easily digestible food. After that, we should pay attention to diet adjustment, preferably a digestible, nutrient-rich, non-greasy diet.

Urination and defecation: The mother should be encouraged to urinate herself as soon as possible. Maternal urination should be encouraged within 46 hours after delivery. If it is difficult to urinate, the method of listening to the sound of running water and hot compress the lower abdomen can be used. At the beginning of the puerperal period, the abdominal muscle and pelvic floor muscle tension decrease, and it is easy to constipation. Encourage people to eat more vegetables and get up as soon as possible. If you are constipated, you can use the method of inserting cellophane into the anus for defecation.

Observe uterine involution and lochia: Involution refers to the process of uterine contractions returning to normal. During the first 14 days after delivery, the lower abdomen usually reaches the fundus of the stomach in an intermittently raised lump. Measure the height of the uterine floor by hand at the same time every day to understand the condition of uterine rehabilitation. Observe the quantity, color, and taste of lochia daily. If uterine rehabilitation is incomplete, the red lochia usually resolves within three days after delivery. If it worsens and persists for a long time, the doctor should be informed and aggressive treatment should be given.

Vulva cleaning: Sterilize vulva twice a day with POvidone iodine in the morning and evening and after using the toilet. Replace the disinfecting pad promptly and wash your hands when changing. If perineal edema is found, apply 50% magnesium sulfate gauze wet compress.

Get up early: The time to get up early should be determined according to the mother's physical condition. Women with caesarean sections and perineal incisions should wake up 24 hours after surgery if possible. For women without perineal wounds, after fatigue relief can sit for 68 hours, you can get out of bed the next day. Getting up early can quickly restore the physiological function of the body, and the physical and mental state can also quickly return to normal, which is conducive to the discharge of lochia and the rehabilitation of the uterus. It can greatly reduce puerperal complications and quickly restore bladder and intestinal function. When there are puerperal complications, you should rest as much as possible.
